Security Officer (WAE)

The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking responsible and vigilant individuals to serve as Security Officer (WAE). These part time/as-needed roles support the safety and security of juvenile justice facilities by helping maintain order, prevent incidents, and promote a safe environment for youth, staff, and visitors. This position is ideal for candidates who are flexible, dependable, and passionate about public service and youth rehabilitation.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

• Monitor entrances, exits, and facility grounds to ensure security and prevent unauthorized access
• Conduct routine patrols and report any safety concerns or suspicious activity
• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations or incident response
• Enforce facility rules and support staff in maintaining order
• Complete logs, incident reports, and other documentation as required
• Provide courteous assistance to visitors, staff, and youth while maintaining professional boundaries

Position-Specific Details: Work Location: This vacancy is located at Acadiana Center for Youth in Bunkie, Louisiana. Compensation: $18.00 per hour. Appointment Type: This is a part time/WAE position Work Details: The incumbent of this position will assist with janitorial and laundry services. The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c) .
