Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health RN provides specialized nursing care to clients within a psychiatric setting, ensuring safe and effective treatment aligned with patient needs. The role requires assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for individuals with mental health conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and deliver comprehensive nursing care tailored to psychiatric patients.
• Implement physicians' orders accurately while maintaining safety protocols.
• Monitor patient progress, document findings, and communicate updates effectively.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and adapt approaches based on patient response.
• Conduct group therapy sessions and support patient engagement in therapeutic activities.
• Maintain a safe environment by continuously monitoring for harmful contraband and risk factors.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current Illinois licensure.
• BLS certification required; BSN preferred or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrate clinical competence in psychiatric nursing and nursing judgment.
• Ability to operate office equipment, PC, and healthcare software (MS Office, Meditech).
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical movements such as bending and walking.
• Strong communication skills and capacity to work effectively with diverse team members.
