As a member of our team, you will work with physicists, engineers, analytical chemists and biologists to tackle National Defense's most important problems. As a Senior Chemist... Your primary responsibility will be to propose and conduct research that contributes to our government sponsor 's goals. You will use your skills in organic, analytical, and experimental chemistry to advance science toward the cutting edge in your field. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists. You will propose your own work and explore new technologies using the many resources available to you at APL! Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... Have a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, chemical biology or another field relevant to the duties as described above. Have 3 or more years post-graduate experience with biomanufacturing and isolation of biomaterials. Are highly skilled at research and are able to propose new projects. Demonstrate the ability to work with other scientists and connect with the broader scientific community through publication, patents, and presentations. Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Have demonstrated proficiency in the development of methods and processes for isolation of biomanufactured products. Are experienced with interdisciplinary collaboration, especially with engineers, physicists, or biochemists in other laboratories or institutions. The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
