HR & Talent Coordinator

Sarmal, Inc. is an innovative biotech company based in San Diego, California developing revolutionary genomics platforms that aim to transform the fields of genetic testing and sequencing. We are seeking an HR & Talent Coordinator to support our growing team. This role will play a key part in coordinating recruiting activities from job description development through offer generation, while also supporting HR compliance tracking and general office/administrative operations. The ideal candidate has prior experience supporting recruiting in a scientific or biotech environment, understands how to translate hiring manager needs into structured job postings, and enjoys helping teams operate efficiently behind the scenes. This position works closely with both the HR leadership and the Executive Assistant and serves as a central coordination point for recruiting logistics, HR documentation tracking, and administrative support. Key Responsibilities Partner with hiring managers and leadership to support recruiting efforts across scientific, technical, and operational functions Coordinate and manage full-cycle recruiting logistics, including job postings, candidate communications, interview scheduling, and feedback collection Conduct initial candidate screening conversations for select roles to assess alignment with position requirements and company culture Drive a high-quality candidate experience throughout the recruiting process Maintain and optimize applicant tracking systems, recruiting workflows, and candidate pipelines Support development and refinement of job descriptions, interview processes, and recruiting best practices Track recruiting metrics and provide hiring status updates to leadership and hiring managers Assist with recruiting process improvements to support organizational growth and hiring scalability Coordinate internship, university recruiting, and recruiting event activities as needed HR Operations Support Coordinate onboarding activities and ensure a smooth new hire experience from offer acceptance through onboarding completion Maintain employee records and support HR documentation and compliance processes Assist with administration of HR policies, employee communications, and internal procedures Support employee engagement initiatives, company events, and culture-building activities Help ensure completion and tracking of required trainings and employment documentation Provide day-to-day HR and administrative support to employees and managers as needed Administrative & Office Coordination In coordination with the Executive Assistant, scheduling and coordination for leadership meetings, interviews, and cross-functional activities Assist with vendor coordination, office operations, and internal administrative processes as needed Prepare and maintain organized HR, recruiting, and operational documentation Collaborate across HR, operations, finance, and leadership teams to support organizational priorities Qualifications 3–5 years of experience in recruiting coordination, HR support, administrative coordination Experience in biotech, life sciences, or diagnostics environments strongly preferred Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through. Effective written and verbal communication skills; professional and service-oriented demeanor. Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Experience with HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems, or payroll tools is a plus. High degree of discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information. Prior experience in a biotech, life sciences, or startup environment is a plus. Education A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field is required. The anticipated salary range for this position is $105,000 – $135,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skill set, and internal equity considerations.
