Location: Littleton, CO (Denver Metro)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $120,000–$150,000

About the Opportunity:

A well-established forensic architecture and engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect with expertise in building enclosure systems to join its growing Colorado team.

This role focuses on forensic investigations, construction defect consulting, expert analysis, and the design of repair solutions for commercial, multifamily, HOA, and institutional properties. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex building performance issues, conducting technical investigations, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the litigation and rehabilitation process.

Key Responsibilities:

Forensic Investigations

• Lead forensic investigations involving roofing, waterproofing, exterior wall systems, façades, windows, curtain walls, balconies, decks, and other building enclosure components.
• Perform on-site condition assessments to identify construction defects, water intrusion, deterioration, and building performance issues.
• Develop and oversee diagnostic testing programs, including destructive and non-destructive testing, moisture investigations, infrared thermography, and water testing.

Technical Analysis & Reporting

• Review construction documents, specifications, shop drawings, warranties, and related documentation.
• Determine probable causes of failures and evaluate compliance with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, expert opinions, and repair recommendations suitable for litigation and dispute resolution.

Restoration & Construction Support

• Assist with repair and rehabilitation design.
• Prepare or review construction documents and technical specifications.
• Review RFIs, product submittals, and shop drawings.
• Conduct construction-phase quality assurance observations.

Client Consulting & Leadership

• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to attorneys, property owners, HOA boards, contractors, insurers, and other project stakeholders.
• Mentor junior staff in investigative techniques, report writing, and building enclosure science.
• Support business development through client relationships, presentations, and industry involvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Architecture.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect license required.
• 8+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting, forensic investigations, restoration, or related disciplines.
• Experience conducting litigation-related investigations and preparing expert reports.
• Strong knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), ASTM standards, and building enclosure systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional quality and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Revu.
• AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Ability to perform field investigations, including roof access, ladders, and regional travel.

• Registered Building Enclosure Consultant (RBEC)
• Certified Document Technologist (CDT)
