Position Overview

The UVM UAS Remote Pilot 2 is responsible for operating drones according to flight plans, planning flight paths, and collaborating with other pilots to ensure safe operations. This role provides mentorship to entry-level pilots, performs safety checks, and maintains accurate records for drone inspections, repairs, and maintenance. Additionally, the pilot follows FAA regulations, supports data collection and analysis, and participates in flight demonstrations and application of treatments using unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

Job Duties

• Provide mentorship and guidance to entry-level pilots, fostering their growth and helping them to enhance their skills.
• Operate a drone according to a specified flight plan, ensuring all tasks are completed and required forms are submitted as directed.
• Plan drone flight paths for routine cases, collaborating with other pilots and flight crews to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all FAA regulations.
• Report and record flight logs and findings, ensuring all necessary data is captured for each flight.
• Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight safety checks.
• Maintain accurate records for inspections, repairs, modifications, and routine maintenance to ensure proper UAS functioning.
