Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: - Nursing interventions - Patient care procedures - Relevant nursing experience - Patient assessment - Care plan development Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and available resources. The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessments upon patient admission and develops appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The RN implements plans of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies plans of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. The RN communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confers with colleagues to expand their knowledge base. The RN identifies their own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. The RN provides care to the inpatient obstetric patient. The RN monitors fetal well-being. The RN administers medication specific to the obstetric patient. The RN provides patient education specific to the obstetric population. The RN participates in the intrapartum care of the patient and newborn during labor, delivery, and surgical delivery.
