Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Two years of acute care RN experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Acute care nursing, patient assessment, care plan development, clinical intervention monitoring, patient and family education Description: A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN applies the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care. The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comforts, education, and satisfaction. The RN utilizes educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring or precepting staff. Job Responsibilities: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development and Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. Reviews and revises the plan as indicated. Collaborates with patient and family and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Evaluation: Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. Ensures appropriateness to care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge. Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor and preceptor. Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork. Identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes. Complies with regulatory standards. Participates in the Practice Governance model.
