Press Room Operator

Job Summary The Press Room Operator is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of printing presses to produce high-quality print publications. This role involves ensuring that all printing processes run smoothly, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols. Key Responsibilities Press Operation: Set up and operate printing presses for daily production. Monitor print quality throughout the production process and make necessary adjustments. Ensure proper ink and paper supplies are available and loaded correctly. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on printing equipment. Report any mechanical issues to the supervisor and assist in repairs as needed. Quality Control: Conduct quality checks to ensure print standards are met. Collaborate with the editorial and production teams to address any quality concerns. Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Participate in safety training and adhere to OSHA regulations. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other press room staff to coordinate production schedules. Assist in training new operators and team members. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production runs, including quantities and any issues encountered. Report daily production statistics to management. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in printing preferred. Previous experience as a press operator or in a related field is highly desirable. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work on a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Physical Requirements Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods. Capability to perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
