Key Responsibilities of the Physical Therapist

• Assess clients' needs and develop therapy plans to meet identified needs
• Administer and perform therapeutic interventions with clients
• Maintain clients' self-esteem, privacy, and confidentiality of personal information
• Provide clients with opportunities for independence and choice consistent with their care plans
• Notify physician of changes and process orders
• Document observations and services provided
• Provide direct consultation with physician and/or interdisciplinary team members
• Provide training on programs, adaptive equipment, and other interventions
• Utilize and supervise therapy assistants as outlined by Federal and State regulations
• Follow infection control and safety standards when using equipment

Requirements of the Physical Therapist

• Completion of an accredited physical therapy program
• National registration and licensure for the state of practice, if required
• Prior work experience as a therapist in a clinical setting helpful
• At least 18 years of age
• BLS Certification
