Summary The Mortgage Specialist II is responsible for meeting with customers to discuss mortgage options and loan products, taking applications, maintaining customer relationships, and soliciting customers and realtors for mortgage loans. Responsibilities Take loan applications and analyze customer income and debt to pre‑qualify them for the requested loan. Collect financial information (tax returns, bank statements, etc.) and other related documents for the application process. Maintain regular contact with customers and realtors between application and closing to update status and gather additional items. Discuss and disclose interest rate options to lock in rates. Attend closings to ensure customer satisfaction. Work with Relationship Officers to ensure correct applications are taken, placed with appropriate investors, and documents are signed. Assist in marketing and obtaining mortgage leads and understanding the rate sheet to identify potential customers. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel. Knowledgeable in FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional lending. Ability to read and interpret customer financial statements, credit reports, and tax returns. Effective interpersonal skills to deal with customers and collaborate with team members. Ability to work independently with little direct supervision. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Proficiency with standard business equipment (fax, copier, printer, computer). Ability to handle sensitive documents and confidential information. Strong time management and organizational skills in a high‑volume environment. Problem‑solving skills and ability to seek management assistance when needed. Physical Demands and Abilities Listen to and understand spoken information. Communicate information clearly in speaking and writing. Arrange tasks in order or according to rules. Interpret speech of others. See details at close range. Recognize when something is wrong. Sit or stand for long periods. Manual dexterity (typing, sorting paperwork, reaching). Operate standard business equipment (fax, computer, printer, copier). Look at a computer screen for several hours. Travel to other locations as needed. Required Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred. Five (5) years of experience in mortgage lending with an active NMLS. Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of lending products and services (FHA, VA, USDA, conventional). Other Requirements May be required to attend off‑site activities to stay abreast of developments, best practices, civic activities, and regulatory changes. Must remain drug and alcohol free in accordance with the Drug‑Free Workplace Act of 1988. Must comply with all Bank Secrecy Act rules, regulations, and requirements.
