Our client is a leading developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale renewable energy and energy storage assets across North America. With a strong operating portfolio and growing development pipeline, the company is well-positioned at the forefront of the energy transition.

They are seeking a Director of Tax Equity & Project Finance to play a key role in building and scaling their tax equity capabilities while supporting broader project finance initiatives.

Position Summary

This is a highly visible role reporting into senior finance leadership, working closely with the VP of Project Finance. The position will focus on structuring, marketing, and executing tax equity transactions, while also contributing across the broader project finance function.

Importantly, this individual will help build and formalize the company's tax equity structuring processes - making this an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to have a tangible impact on platform development.

Key Responsibilities

• Structure and execute tax-efficient financing solutions for utility-scale renewable energy projects, maximizing ITC/PTC incentives.
• Lead end-to-end tax equity transactions, including structuring, financial modeling, investor marketing, negotiation, diligence, and closing.
• Develop relationships with tax equity investors, including marketing opportunities to individual and institutional investors .
• Partner closely with internal stakeholders across finance, development, and legal to support overall project financing strategy.
• Build and implement internal frameworks, processes, and best practices for tax equity structuring and execution.
• Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to evaluate returns, cash flows, and partnership allocations.
• Monitor tax policy, regulatory developments, and market trends to inform structuring decisions and optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (CPA, JD, or advanced degree preferred).
• 6+ years of experience in tax equity, project finance, or structured finance within renewable energy or infrastructure .
• Strong experience with utility-scale renewable energy projects (candidates from regional bank-only backgrounds are less aligned).
• Demonstrated experience structuring transactions and interfacing directly with investors.
• Proven ability to market opportunities and communicate effectively with external stakeholders .
• Strong financial modeling capabilities and commercial acumen across project finance.
• Excellent presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills (critical for success in this role).
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment and manage multiple concurrent transactions.
