Lab Operations Manager

Quinnipiac University's School of Health Sciences invites applications for a Lab Operations Manager to serve the Department of Biomedical Sciences to support microbiology instructional, operational, and laboratory preparation needs and its associated preparation areas. This Laboratory Operations Manager will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to support laboratory-based instruction across undergraduate and graduate biomedical sciences programs. Responsibilities include supporting the mission, visions, and core values of Quinnipiac University, its School of Health Sciences and Department of Biomedical Science; preparing and supporting microbiology laboratory courses; managing daily operation, organization, and maintenance of microbiology laboratory; collaborating with faculty to prepare laboratories for instructional activities; maintaining inventories of laboratory supplies; operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and coordinating servicing, calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment and instrumentation; recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising student workers and laboratory assistants; promoting and maintaining compliance with university policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing laboratory operations; collaborating with Environmental Health and Safety personnel regarding chemical hygiene, hazardous waste management, biological safety, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance; assisting faculty to implement new laboratory exercises and educational initiatives; maintaining laboratory safety records; supporting faculty and student research activities; serving as a liaison between the laboratory and university departments, service providers, vendors, and external partners; collaborating with Information Technology personnel regarding laboratory software, instrumentation interfaces, and technology support; and attending departmental, school, and university meetings as required.

Education Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biomedical sciences, biology, or a closely related field. Preferred Qualification includes a Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.

Qualifications include 13 years of experience in laboratory operations or management; strong understanding of lab safety practices, chemical handling, and hazardous materials management; excellent organizational skills and technical proficiency in lab equipment and inventory systems; effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to supervise student workers and collaborate with faculty; and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and contribute positively to the university community.
