Chemotherapy NurseAs a Chemotherapy Nurse, you will provide direct and indirect patient services to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment. You will efficiently communicate with Chemotherapy Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and co-workers about any changes in patients' clinical conditions, as well as updates to policies and procedures. This role requires a quick and accurate response to changes in both patient and unit conditions to ensure the delivery of safe and quality patient care.Essential Job FunctionsPerform a variety of duties, often transitioning between different tasks while maintaining efficiency and composure.Accept responsibility for the planning, direction, and control of activities associated with patient care.Make evaluations and decisions based on measurable or verifiable criteria.Recognize and uphold patient confidentiality rights and responsibilities.Convey empathy and compassion to patients experiencing pain, grief, or trauma.Foster teamwork and cooperation while communicating effectively with diverse individuals.Incorporate guest relations into daily activities.Provide age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial care for patients.Support organizational mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.Participate in required educational programs relevant to the position.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation:Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:Required: Current RN license in the State. BLS certification. ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider Card.Preferred: Oncology Nursing Certification or the intent to obtain certification within three years of hire.Experience:Required: Minimum of one year of acute care or medical/surgical nursing experience.Preferred: Previous oncology experience.Knowledge and SkillsAbility to provide care that respects age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial needs.Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.Ability to work collaboratively within a team to ensure quality patient care.Strong critical thinking skills.Physical RequirementsThis position requires the following physical and sensory abilities:Adequate auditory ability to detect and respond to sounds, including patient alarms and verbal communication.Effective visual acuity for observing patient conditions, reading documentation, and distinguishing colors for clinical purposes.Tactile perception for assessing physical characteristics during patient care.Motor coordination for handling medical equipment and performing fine motor tasks.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and manage frequent lifting and repositioning of patients.Capability to sit for extended periods as required.Working ConditionsThis role is performed primarily in an indoor healthcare environment and may involve occasional exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment. Adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is expected.
