Math Teacher

Job Summary Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth. Rite of Passage Team is hiring a Math Teacher at Canyon State Academy in Queen Creek, Arizona. Location Queen Creek, AZ 85142, USA Key Responsibilities Implement and adhere to the principles of Positive Operational Culture. Provide instructional services to students. Collaborate with staff in a supportive fashion emphasizing a positive attitude toward students, staff, and program. Qualifications Current and valid state teaching credential in English, Math, Science, and/or Special Education. Related experience working with at‑risk youth. Three or more years of successful classroom teaching. Knowledge of instructional strategies and how they can be employed to deliver curriculum and assess student learning. Proficiency in various methodologies and research related to learning and working with at‑risk, high school‑aged youth. Effective classroom management techniques and behavioral management styles that result in understanding of how to manage and teach to various learning styles. Effective communication techniques that enable positive and productive collaboration with site staff. Technology skills and the ability to use technology as an educational tool. Key Competencies & Behaviors Establish a teaching rapport with students that results in student achievement in all program areas. Diagnose, prescribe and evaluate student progress on an ongoing basis. Collaborate with staff to deliver a consistent curriculum and implement a team approach to working with students. Confront inappropriate behavior appropriately and take the necessary action as outlined in the program procedures. Accept additional tasks as assigned, including a flexible work schedule and extracurricular assignments. Pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test. Schedule Hours vary. 5 days on, 2 days off. Schedule subject to change based on the need of the program. Benefits Salary position. About Canyon State Academy Canyon State Academy is located on a scenic 180‑acre campus surrounded by farm student housing for 300+ youth, a thrift store, café, barbershop, and church open to the community incorporating life skills for our students.
