Material Handler

Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, job kitting, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies. Counts, weighs or measures incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records; examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and corresponds with Purchasing dept. to rectify; completes paperwork or forms required for documentation. Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage. Transports high technology, high dollar cost equipment, office supplies, furniture and hazardous materials to customers (shop); secures cargo properly and safely with weight evenly distributed. Fills orders and issues materials and supplies per requests; documents transactions appropriately; keeps records of storeroom inventory. Accurate part marking/identification Utilizes computerized or automated systems to accomplish tasks. Other Duties and Responsibilities Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation Displays excellent communication skills required in working with customers and coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure Respectfully takes direction from supervisor or manager Assists in inventory spot counts and conducting complete physical inventory count bi-annually. Organizes and maintains warehouse and inventory yard areas for efficient material storage and handling; maintains labeling system on each stock item; manually stock inventory shelving with stock items received or returned Operates forklifts, and other necessary vehicles and equipment, to properly handle materials being received, issued, stocked, and picked Other duties as assigned. Minimum Experience and Qualifications One year of material handling or shipping/receiving experience preferred Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to safety or health of employee or others. Education and/or Equivalent Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year related experience and/or training preferred Training, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Training: Forklift, Crane Operation, ERP, Quality Management System Critical Skills Language Skills: Ability to read, write, interpret documents and effectively present information Mathematical Skills: Intermediate mathematical concepts Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office suite Physical Demands Occasionally: Handle, feel, reach with hands or arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch crawl, talk, hear Regularly: Sit, stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs.
