F.D Roosevelt High School, part of the Hyde Park Central School District, is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to fill the vacant positions of JV Boys Basketball Coach, Freshman Boys Basketball Coach, Varsity Girls Basketball Coach, and JV Girls Basketball Coach . These are stipend positions under the HPTA bargaining unit.

The coach will be responsible for leading and developing positive and supportive basketball practices to prepare high school student-athletes for games. This role focuses on fundamental skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fostering a love for basketball in a fun and encouraging environment.

Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and conduct daily after-school practices appropriate for the level.

Prepare for and support students during games, both away and at home 

Supervise student-athletes during all practices and events, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Establish and enforce clear team rules and expectations in line with school policies.

Motivate and inspire team members, promoting a positive team culture and good sportsmanship.

Communicate regularly with student-athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and student progress.

Manage team equipment and uniforms.

Complete all necessary administrative tasks related to the basketball program.

Qualifications:

NYS Coaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one before the season starts is required.

Candidates will need to complete fingerprint clearance, First Aid/CPR/AED certification, Child Abuse Workshop, DASA Training, and CDC Head's Up Concussion Training prior to starting the season.

Previous basketball experience as a participant or coach is preferred.

Experience working with high school-aged students is highly desirable.

Knowledge of basketball safety guidelines and regulations for athletes.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all participants.

A commitment to the athletic and personal development of high school students.

Schedule:

Tentative Start Date: November 16, 2026

Hours: Part-time, after school, typically weekdays. Specific practice and event schedules will be determined based on the school's athletic calendar.
