Trial Attorney
Robert Half
Job Description
Job Description
A well-established Pacific Northwest law firm is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join its collaborative and growing practice. This is an especially strong opportunity for an attorney who wants to be in the courtroom and build meaningful trial experience. The position offers a trial-heavy caseload, with attorneys taking an active role in preparing cases for trial, appearing in court, examining witnesses, and handling matters through resolution.
Attorneys are given meaningful ownership of their cases, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to develop litigation strategy from the outset. This is an excellent fit for someone who enjoys being actively involved in their cases, wants substantive responsibility, and is looking to continue sharpening their skills as a trial attorney within a supportive and team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee a diverse portfolio of civil litigation matters from initial assessment through settlement, dispositive motion practice, and trial.
• Formulate case strategies, evaluate risk, and counsel clients on practical options for resolving disputes efficiently and effectively.
• Advocate for clients in state and federal courts as well as in mediation, arbitration, and other contested proceedings.
• Prepare persuasive legal documents, including complaints, answers, motions, briefs, memoranda, and related filings.
• Conduct all phases of discovery by managing written requests, reviewing productions, and taking or defending depositions.
• Support trial execution by organizing evidence, preparing witnesses, developing arguments, and appearing in court as needed.
• Maintain strong client relationships through timely communication, sound legal judgment, and clear guidance throughout each matter.
• Partner with attorneys and legal support staff to advance cases while assuming greater autonomy as responsibilities expand.
- 4+ years of civil litigation experience, with meaningful trial and courtroom exposure.
- Experience managing cases through multiple stages of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
- Insurance defense experience preferred, but attorneys with transferable civil litigation experience will also be considered.
- Experience taking and defending depositions and working directly with clients.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to independently manage deadlines and competing priorities across an active litigation caseload.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated interest in developing and expanding trial advocacy skills.
- Active membership in the applicable state bar and in good standing.
