Job TitleLaboratory TechnicianJob DescriptionReceive patient's specimens of blood, urine, stool, microbiological and viral cultures, tissue, body fluids and cytological specimens.Check that all specimens are properly and completely labeled.Prepare specimens for analysis, ensuring that the physiologic properties are maintained.Ensure timely distribution to laboratory sections of all specimens received.Perform and calculate manual cell counts and properly identify abnormal and normal blood cell populations.Operate, maintain and troubleshoot all blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and microbiology analyzers, in addition to laboratory centrifuges.Ensure proper documentation of patient identification and proper specimen identification in accordance with regulations.Collect, test and process donated blood into treatment specific components.
