About the Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Cath Lab is responsible for providing specialized care in a high-acuity environment, supporting a wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures. The role involves working in hybrid OR settings, pre- and post-procedure care areas, diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath labs, and interventional radiology suites.

The RN will assist with and perform procedures such as cardiac stent placement, diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, left and right heart catheterization, PCI, TAVR, Impella and IABP management, pacemaker/defibrillator lead extraction, Swan-Ganz monitoring, TEE, and Watchman procedures. Responsibilities also include scrub and circulate duties.

In addition, the nurse may support procedures across multiple specialties including gastrointestinal (angioplasty, ERCP, liver biopsy, TIPS), neurological (cerebral angiography, thrombolysis, embolization), vascular (angioplasty, stent placement, central line/PICC placement, endovascular interventions), pulmonary (chest tube placement, lung biopsy, thoracentesis), and genitourinary (cystoscopy, nephrostomy, renal angiography).

The role includes IV therapy responsibilities such as central line assistance and management, IV initiation and maintenance, blood product administration, PICC line and port care, and infusion pump management.

The RN must demonstrate strong clinical skills including dysrhythmia interpretation, procedural sedation monitoring, hemostasis and sheath removal, ACT monitoring, infection prevention, ventilator management, ECG interpretation, cardioversion, and adherence to safety protocols such as hypothermia management and pressure ulcer prevention.

The nurse will administer medications including antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, emergency medications, vasopressors, sedation agents, reversal agents, and thrombolytics.

Requirements

• Active ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required
• Minimum 1+ years of recent MRI Technologist experience
• AHA BLS certification required
• Philips MRI experience required
