Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive perioperative nursing care to surgical patients, ensuring safety, professionalism, and patient-centered service throughout the surgical experience. Skilled in assessment, documentation, and emergency procedures, supporting optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Perform thorough and systematic preoperative and postoperative assessments, adapting care to patient age and specific procedures.
Deliver competent clinical care, supporting team efforts and managing emergency equipment and protocols.
Maintain accurate, complete documentation of nursing interventions, patient progress, and educational activities.
Promote patient safety by adhering to infection control standards, universal protocols, and body mechanics for transfer techniques.
Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, risks, and postoperative care to foster understanding and cooperation.
Assume responsibility for prioritizing and directing patient care, adjusting plans based on condition changes.

Qualifications:

Valid RN license with at least 1 year of healthcare experience.
Current BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Demonstrates knowledge of perioperative procedures, patient safety protocols, and assessment skills.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
