Security Supervisor- PM Shift

Security Supervisor The Security Supervisor is responsible for directing the day-to-day operation of the Safety and Security department, providing protection and communication with hotel guests and employees. He/she is also responsible for patrolling hotel premises to maintain security, detect and report fire, security and safety hazards and/or violations of Highgate Hotel rules and regulations. Responsibilities include: Supervising security staff. Assigning shifts and designating duties. Conducting training for the security staff. Supervising investigations. Arranging and implementing procedures for emergency situations such as fire, bomb threats, hurricane, etc. Being an active member of the safety committee. Reviewing payroll for the department. Reviewing the daily activity log at the beginning of each shift. Checking identification of visitors and employees, if applicable. Checking and documenting packages. Opening secured areas for authorized personnel. Completing incident/accident reports in a clear and concise manner. Maintaining the daily activity log. Conducting assigned tours of the building. Investigating all reported thefts, accidents and security complaints. Assisting in all fire and/or emergency situations. Providing escort to guests and/or employees as necessary. Responding to all types of alarms. Monitoring TV camera, if applicable. Administering Heimlich Maneuver and/or First Aid/CPR as necessary. Conducting investigations relative to property losses, guest and employee accidents and illnesses, and crimes against the hotel. Checking packages and documenting all deliveries. Patrolling the area to ensure they are secure and free of unauthorized persons and disturbances. Providing escorts to persons carrying money, or other requests. Issuing and inventorying pagers, radio equipment and keys on a daily basis, if applicable. Conducting basic First Aid training. Qualifications include: Maintaining a warm and friendly demeanor at all times. Effectively communicating both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner. Listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests. Multitasking and prioritizing departmental functions to meet deadlines. Approaching all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner. Attending all hotel required meetings and trainings. Maintaining regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel. Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag. Complying with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations. Maximizing efforts towards productivity, identifying problem areas and assisting in implementing solutions. Being effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Understanding and applying complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives. Cross-training in other hotel related areas. Maintaining confidentiality of information. Showing initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs. Performing other duties as requested by management. High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field required. At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred. Previous supervisory responsibility preferred. Physical requirements: Flexible and long hours sometimes required. Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Ability to stand during entire shift. Ability to climb and descend stairways and run. Ability to physically deter individuals who pose a threat to employee and/or guests. Highgate Hotels
