Paraprofessional

Ouachita Parish School Board

Ouachita Parish School Board has a standing application process that allows individuals to apply for positions, whether there is a vacancy or not. This allows for a pool of applicants should a position become vacant. This application is not posted for a specific location at this time.

Please include a copy of your Associate Degree or higher OR College Transcript with 48 Credit Hours with at least nine credit hours of English, six of Math, and no more than 12 hours of remedial coursework OR ParaPro Praxis (score of 450 or hgher).

We will also need a copy of your Driver's License

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a high school diploma

Must be Highly Qualified by means of:

a. passing score on the Paraprofessional Exam or


b. 48 semester credit hours with 6 hours in Math and 9 hours in


English/Reading (3 of which has to be in English Comp) or


c. Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Applied


Science degree from a stat-approved or regionally accredited


institution of higher education


d. Must possess iffectie written and oral self-expressive skills


e. Satisfactory Completion of Red Cross First Aid Coure including CPR


within 60 days of employment

JOB GOAL:

The paraprofessional will perform his/her duties under the direct supervision of a teacher. The role


of he instructional paraprofessional is to assist the teacher with teaching related activities. The


instructional paraprofessional will assist and support the teacher by carrying our delegated


activities and assignments. In addition to routine duties, the instructional paraprofessional will


work in the classroom in direct involvement with children when the planning has been properly


done by the teacher.
