Faculty Support Specialist

Position Title Faculty Support Specialist Primary Purpose of the Organization Faculty support specialists are employed for one or two semesters of an academic year on a part-time basis. They work with assigned faculty on activities that support teaching, advising, grading, technical assistance and similar activities to enhance student learning. The position requires development of a professional plan in consultation with the supervisor, considering the needs of the faculty member, students, and the department. Key Responsibilities Formal and informal classroom assistance as needed Preparing, grading, and correcting assignments Guiding students’ individual work Supporting project-based learning practices Providing career and academic advice Consulting with students outside of class time Participating in the development of teaching methods, programs, or course content Developing teaching and learning materials Creating resources or programs to support teaching Developing study sessions, conducting office hours Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline with at least 12 credits in the relevant concentration (or related field) Master’s or doctoral degree preferred; degree must have been earned at least two years ago At least five years of work experience related to the field in which the applicant wishes to support teaching Complete onboarding requirements with the Office of Human Resources no later than first day of employment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Willingness to work collaboratively with faculty on projects contributing to the mission and goals of Fayetteville State University Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to assist faculty in planning and implementing class instruction, meetings, student orientations, lectures, receptions and workshops Ability to assist faculty in conducting evaluations and assessments General willingness to assist with responsibilities as assigned Employment Details Job Category: Clerical and Secretarial Position Type: Full-time (part-time equivalent hours) Appointee: Temporary, one or two semesters per academic year Salary Range: Varies/Hourly EEO Statement Fayetteville State University is committed to equality of educational opportunity and employment and does not discriminate against applicants, students, or employees based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, genetic information or veteran status.
