Location: Europe preferred but other parts of EMEA and APAC regions possible

Join our Electrification (EL) Business Area as a Lead Litigation Senior Counsel reporting directly to the Global Head of Litigation, EL. You will be responsible for managing disputes and litigation across EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and APAC (Asia Pacific, including China). We are looking for a senior, seasoned litigator with extensive experience in international dispute resolution to be an integral member of the Electrification Legal & Integrity Team. You will provide advice to Electrification business and Legal & Integrity colleagues in the EMEA and APAC regions on claims and litigation strategic planning, litigation risk management, litigation best practices and avoidance of future litigation and strengthen claims management skills within the broader EL Legal & Integrity team.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively oversee the litigation portfolio within EMEA and APAC, assess potential and active claims for risk exposure, and collaborate with in-house legal teams and external counsel to manage cases effectively.
• Conduct early risk assessments and develop litigation strategies aligned with business objectives to mitigate existing future liabilities.
• Enhance EL's litigation management framework, emphasizing dispute prevention, early resolution, and strategic case handling leveraging technology (litigation dashboards, case management tools).
• Select, manage, and oversee outside counsel, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and control and optimize litigation budgets for cost transparency and efficiency.
• Guide EL Legal & Integrity team members on best dispute and claims management practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in litigation capabilities.
• Support government investigations related to EL activities in EMEA and APAC, coordinate with internal stakeholders, and ensure compliance and strategic response.
• Provide detailed written and oral updates to the Global Head of Litigation and regional management, maintaining transparency in communicating legal risks, case statuses, and strategic recommendations.
• Cultivate strong relationships with business leaders, functional teams, and legal colleagues across regions to ensure alignment of litigation strategies with broader organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years post-qualified experience (PQE) in complex litigation, preferably within heavy industry, critical infrastructure, electrical distribution, or related sectors, with proven track record in managing high-stakes disputes including e-discovery and strategic litigation planning.
• Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from an accredited institution; qualified lawyer admitted in civil or common law jurisdictions.
• Prior private practice employment including first chair trial responsibility with a preference for prior multinational corporate in-house litigation management experience (additional experience in criminal prosecution/law enforcement will be considered).
• Multiple years of managing law firm and/or in-house legal counsel to provide foundation for capably leading teams, guiding peers, and managing external legal counsel.
• Strong executive presence with excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
• Results driven and solution-oriented, able to operate autonomously with high ethical standards, demonstrating confidence, poise, humility, and strategic thinking.
• Must speak English.
