Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position at a pediatric hospital in San Antonio, TX, requiring pediatric cardiac experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Located in a pediatric hospital setting within a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) department
• Pediatric cardiac patient population requiring advanced critical care management
• Hands-on experience with chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions required
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in TX or a compact state currently in hand
• Current certifications required (AHA only): BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a critical care setting
• Pediatric cardiac ICU experience required, including chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions
• SSN required for consideration
• 2 professional references required for consideration
• Current primary source license verification (Nursys) required for consideration
• Copies of all active certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of pediatric patients and families
• Educates patients, family members, and caregivers; identifies issues and available resources
• All newly hired RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with competency validation completed for both organizational onboarding and CVICU-specific requirements
• BSN preferred but not required
• Temp-to-perm opportunity may be available
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel pay rates
