Transportation Engineer

Job Title: Transportation Engineer Job Type: Full-Time Location: Baltimore, MD 21202; Salisbury, MD 21804 Education: Bachelor's Degree Position Summary McCormick Taylor is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our Baltimore, MD office. The primary duties of the Transportation Engineer are to serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of various transportation projects. Projects may include the preliminary and final engineering of roadway/transportation improvements, intersection design, ADA and bicycle facility design, site development improvements, transit facilities, as well as field visits and inspections. Responsibilities Performing engineering calculations Develop roadway improvements, intersection design, ADA design, bicycle facility design, site improvements, and transit facilities 2D and 3D modeling Quantity development, cost estimating and specification writing Support quality control/quality assurance (QA/QC) Attending internal and external client meetings Work under the guidance of experienced project managers Able to work on multiple design projects concurrently Flexible to work with other disciplines to provide support when needed Will lead the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction. This will include plans, specifications, and cost estimates Job Requirements Knowledge of transportation design elements, standards, and constructability methods 4‑12 years of experience in the design of highway/roadway, civil engineering and transportation projects for Maryland counties, and local municipalities Efficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel B.S. in Civil Engineering Strong communications and technical writing skills Ability to work on multiple assignments Willing and capable of performing occasional field work and have a valid driver’s license PE certification preferred Working knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, InRoads, and OpenRoads is a plus Soft Skills Flexible and willing to learn and grow in different directions Adaptable and able to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment Strong work ethic Enjoys challenging work Benefits We offer an unparalleled, comprehensive benefits package—including no‑deductible medical plans, free vision and dental plans, programs to enhance work‑life balance, and flexible and hybrid work schedules.
