Medical Assistant (Certified)

Employee Type Regular Work Shift Day - 8 hour shift (United States of America) Overview Medical Assistant (Certified) III – integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team providing direct patient care. Performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice, assisting medical and nursing staff in examination and treatment of patients and ensuring clinic operations run smoothly. Involves complex procedures across EMR modules, coordination of resources, prior authorization, referrals, estimates, and payment collections. Completes duties under general supervision with full proficiency expected of all employees. Responsibilities Accompany patients to exam rooms and prepare them for exams. Perform and document vital signs. Assist with procedures. Prepare and administer medications with physician’s authorization. Perform EKGs and use CPR skills when required. Draw blood. Provide patient education on office policies, medication, disease management, home treatments, and special diets. Stock and clean exam rooms, clean instruments, dispose of biohazard waste per OSHA standards, and maintain accurate, legal, and ethical documentation. Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations. Education Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent – Required. Associate’s Degree or completion of a Medical Terminology course – Preferred. Experience Qualifications At least three (3) years of customer-facing healthcare experience with at least one (1) year of scheduling or pre-registering patients – Required. Skills and Abilities Computer knowledge – Required. High level of interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, visitors, and clinical staff at all levels – Required. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail – Required. Ability to work independently with limited supervision – Required. Phlebotomy skills and experience – Preferred. Licenses and Certifications Certified Clinical Medical Assistant – National Healthcareer Association – Required. Medical Assistant – American Medical Technologist – Required. National Certified Medical Assistant – National Center for Competency Testing – Required. Certified Medical Assistant – American Association of Medical Assistants – Required. Basic Life Support Certified – American Heart Association – Required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years – Required. Physical Demand Light Physical Demand.
