Research Associate, Detector Development

For more information, visit Position Overview We are seeking a Research Associate to join the Technology Development group as part of the Detector Development team. In this role, you will support the detector testing, DNA sample preparation, and validation methods that are critical to our genomic mapping technology platform. You will work on‑site in Providence, RI, both independently and collaboratively, in a fast‑paced startup environment. Responsibilities Support detector qualification efforts by owning workflows and testing protocols from design through execution and documentation Serve as the primary resource for consistent, high‑quality DNA sample preparation, enzymatic modification, and quality assessment (e.g., spectrometry, pulsed‑field gel electrophoresis) to support cross‑function collaboration Troubleshoot and optimize instrument run behavior to support detector development and validation efforts Perform robust data analysis using Python, R, or equivalent tools to interpret experimental results, identify trends, and generate actionable recommendations Design, execute, and troubleshoot complex biological assays; maintain thorough records Participate in cross‑functional projects with engineers and scientists to support hardware‑software‑sample integration goals Communicate findings, data, and recommendations clearly in team meetings, written summaries, and formal reports to stakeholders Maintain accurate and thorough laboratory notebooks and records in compliance with SOPs Requirements Bachelor’s or master’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, or a closely related field 1–3 years of industry or post‑graduate academic experience in genomics, diagnostics, or a related biotechnology field Experience with standard molecular biology techniques Experience troubleshooting complex, multi‑step biological assays. Ability to follow detailed written protocols and flag deviations or unexpected results promptly Strong laboratory assay skills and best practices for DNA isolation and manipulation techniques using enzymatic reactions Proficiency with analysis tools: Python, R, or equivalent; ability to generate plots, run basic statistics, and summarize results in shareable formats Experience with microfluidic devices or nanofluidic sample handling is preferred Experience with fluorescence microscopy or optical detection methods is preferred Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to document methods clearly and present data to non‑specialist audiences Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required Compensation Competitive salary and bonus structure Equity stake Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k) plan with 50% match up to 6% of base salary, unlimited vacation, life insurance #J-18808-Ljbffr Nabsys
