Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring advanced fetal monitoring skills and comfort caring for both mother and newborn.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a community hospital setting
• 13-week contract assignment
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Provides care for obstetrical patients including antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum phases
• Performs advanced fetal monitoring and triage of obstetrical patients
• Assists with vaginal deliveries and circulates/recovers C-section patients

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• NRP provider certification required
• AWHONN Advanced certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring experience required
• Comfortable providing care to both newborn and delivered mother
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood/blood products
• Experience administering medications including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, Terbutaline, and antihypertensives/antiseizure drugs
• Skilled in epidural anesthesia pain management and use of IV PCA
• Proficient in postpartum care including fundus, lochia, and perineum assessment
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Any EMR/charting system experience accepted

Additional Information

• Responsible for neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring and ID/security banding
• Maintains isolation precautions and proper PPE use
• Accepts local candidates at a local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• Returning staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation before reapplying
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year are required for consideration
• Candidates must provide a 7-year work history for verification purposes
