Compliance And Risk Management Role

The purpose of this role is to support compliance and risk functions institution-wide to ensure the credit union's risks are mitigated and regulations are being followed. Ensures appropriate compliance risk oversight is in place for assigned business units and/or functions. Assists with the implementation and execution of legal and regulatory requirements that impact multiple systems, processes, and members.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other anti-money laundering (AML) laws and regulations are met. Writing policies and procedures and performing risk assessments. Serving as the BSA Officer and the OFAC Compliance Officer.
• Serving as a compliance resource for Federal and State laws, regulations, and rulings.
• Ensuring adequacy and effectiveness of physical security and life safety systems of all credit union locations. Serving as the Security Officer and authoring and maintaining the Security Manual.
• Managing position-related vendor relationships. Serving as the primary contact for regular and emergency security-related and facility emergency calls. Serving as an administrator for programs and websites.
• Managing facilities access, and access card system for all credit union locations.
• Investigating suspicious member or staff activity such as fraud, forgery, and member identity theft. Acting as liaison with external law enforcement agencies.
• Collaborating with the Fraud Specialists Role and all other departments of the credit union to ensure fraud is investigated to the fullest extent possible. Analyzing trends in SARs, CTRs, etc. in concrete with the Fraud Specialist and to be a team player in staying abreast of trending fraud schemes.
• Conducting periodic reviews to ensure policy, procedure and compliance standards are being followed in areas including the member identification program, and member due diligence.
• Preparing reports for management, Board and/or Supervisory Committee that address losses, recoveries, types of criminal activity experienced and other security incidents and risk exposures.
• Conducting and recommending periodic training for volunteers and staff in areas including loss prevention, robbery, OFAC, Bank Secrecy Act, member identification procedures, and security. Making presentations to staff, management, and volunteers.
• Ensuring that all information and transactions regarding Argent Credit Union business is kept confidential.
• Actively participating in all staff meetings in order to maintain awareness of organizational issues, promotional campaigns, stays current on policies, procedures, compliance and makes suggestions for improvement.
• Working to increase knowledge, technical skills and professional development through available internal and external sources.
• Working as a member of the Argent Credit Union team to ensure achievement of the credit union's mission and goals.
• Maintaining a professional work environment and businesslike appearance.
• Performing additional duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate.
