Job Title: Surgical Technologist

Certifications: BLS Certification, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA
Must-Have: Cardiothoracic experience


Description:
The unit consists of 22 operating suites.
On average, there are 30 surgical cases per day.
Common cases include general surgery, vascular surgery, neuro surgery, plastics, ortho surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery.
Each shift has a manager and charge nurse present, who do take assignments.
Self-scheduling is not allowed.
The call requirement includes 1-2 weeknights of call and being available every 3-4 weekends for heart call.
The department is closed on holidays, but a call team is available.
The call response time is 30 minutes.
Scrubs are provided for staff.
Unit-specific orientation consists of 3-4 shifts, depending on the service line.
The cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during the assignment.
The charting system used is EPIC.
