The US team provides breaking news, features and analysis on stories across the country. They are expected to develop sources in various fields that add weight to their reporting. The team works across a variety of formats, including video, podcasts and live-blogs. The pace is fast so accuracy and speed under pressure is essential. Key Responsibilities Be responsible for providing the Telegraph's coverage of US affairs, overseen by the foreign desk. Write breaking news stories and provide relevant longer‑form pieces, including comment and features when required. Focus on digital storytelling and the use of analytics and social media to develop and retain an online audience. Develop sources in fields such as politics, defence or the judiciary. Pitch ideas that fit with the Telegraph's interests. Work in close contact with the foreign desk. React to the demands of a 24/7 online news environment. A readiness to travel at short notice will be expected. Significant journalistic experience of writing and editing for a newspaper or website. Deep knowledge of and curiosity about the US. Proven ability in filing clean copy to strict deadlines. Interest in and knowledge of multimedia storytelling. Experienced in both breaking news and working on longer pieces, projects, comments and features. Ability to keep calm under pressure and work autonomously in a remote location.
