About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current state licensure Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. Description: The unit has a total of 28 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5. Common diagnoses include general medical patients such as sepsis, COPD, bowel obstructions, and CHF. RNs are required to titrate drips, specifically insulin and heparin. There are no telemonitor techs available on the unit. Telemonitoring is conducted from a centralized location. RNs are preferred to have the ability to read strips. There is no charge nurse taking an assignment; however, nurse aids are available. The ratio of nurse aids to patients is 1:10-14. RT equipment available includes CPAP and established BiPAP only. Weekend and holiday requirements are in place. When staff is not needed by the unit, they may be floated elsewhere for support. Any professional color for scrubs is allowed. Unit-specific orientation will be provided. The hospital has a cancellation policy allowing for cancellations of shifts during the assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
