South Country Health Alliance is seeking an Accounting Coordinator to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting core accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, financial recordkeeping, payment generation, and audit preparation. The Accounting Coordinator supports accurate and timely financial data management, assists with the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, analyses, and other month-end tasks as assigned. This role works closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely transactions, strong internal controls, and reliable financial information that supports business decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS:

What You’ll Bring:

• A associates degree in accounting, finance, or other related field
• A minimum of one (1) year experience in bookkeeping or accounting
• Experience with accounts receivable, payable, and reconciliations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and basic accounting principles and three (3) years’ experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role preferred.

JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY:

The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting core accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, financial recordkeeping, payment generation, and audit preparation. The Accounting Coordinator supports accurate and timely financial data management, assists with the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, analyses, and other month-end tasks as assigned. This role works closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely transactions, strong internal controls, and reliable financial information that supports business decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required : An associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or other related field, minimum one (1) year of bookkeeping or accounting experience, experience with accounts receivable and payables and reconciliations, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Preferred : Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and basic accounting principles, three (3) years’ experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, and experience supporting audit and tax preparation processes.

Skill Sets: Strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to manage multiple priorities; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective written and verbal communication and the ability to collaborate across departments. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software and a strong knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.

1. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, billing, and payment processing. 20%
2. Review, verify, and facilitate distribution of payments by check, ACH, or wire while ensuring compliance with company policies and vendor terms.10%
3. Maintain accurate financial records by entering transactions into accounting systems and organizing supporting documentation.15%
4. Assist in the preparation and support of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports while maintaining accounting system accuracy and data integrity.15%
5. Support month-end and year-end close processes, budgeting, forecasting, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting activities as required.10%
6. Monitor outstanding receivables and payables, prepare journal entries, and perform account reconciliations to resolve discrepancies.10%
7. Assist with payroll coordination, audit preparation, and responses to auditor or regulatory documentation requests. 10%
8. Serve as a liaison with internal departments and external parties while reviewing financial documents and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards 10%

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate financial and technical information clearly and effectively. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform accounting calculations, reconcile data, and analyze financial information accurately.

Maintains a high level of accuracy and attention to detail due to the critical impact of financial data integrity on reporting, compliance, and organizational decision-making. Maintains strict confidentiality and exercises discretion when handling sensitive organizational, financial, and personnel information.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to analyze financial information, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues using sound judgment and established accounting principles.
