Patient Care Associate - PCA - Surgical Progressive Care - SPCU

Position Patient Care Associate (PCA) – Surgical Progressive Care – SPCU – Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Full-time and part-time night shifts available. Rotating holidays and weekends. Job Overview Under the direction of an RN or LPN, the PCA assists with individualized patient care to help patients achieve their highest level of wellness. The role is an essential member of the care team, performing both clinical procedures and non‑clinical support tasks in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. Training Program Mercy provides a 175‑hour Department of Health and Senior Services‑approved training program, completed during new hire orientation. The training program is also an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program. Requirements BLS certification within one month of hire. PCA competencies completed within three months. Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. CNA/CPTC certification. Enrollment in a healthcare career program (including high school programs). None required. Experienced Mercy co‑workers are encouraged to apply. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly. Prolonged standing and walking.
