The Role

\n

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build the core infrastructure powering our mortgage platform.

\n

You’ll design, build, and maintain backend systems that support the lifecycle of a mortgage—from application and verification through underwriting, decisioning, and funding.

\n

You’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to solve complex problems in a highly regulated and data-intensive industry.

\n

As an early member of the engineering team, you’ll also play an important role in establishing engineering standards, improving system reliability, influencing technical direction, and mentoring future engineers.

What You’ll Work On

\n

\n
• Design and build scalable backend services in Go that power complex, data-intensive loan workflows
\n
• Develop APIs and integrations with credit bureaus, verification providers, document systems, pricing engines, and other mortgage infrastructure
\n
• Build automation and decisioning systems that transform AI and model outputs into reliable, explainable workflows
\n
• Design systems with strong auditability, data integrity, security, and regulatory requirements in mind
\n
• Improve platform performance, observability, testing, and production reliability
\n
• Help define technical architecture and engineering best practices as the platform scales
\n
• Collaborate directly with product and design to turn complex mortgage workflows into simple, reliable software
\n
• Review code, mentor engineers, and help build a strong engineering culture
\n

What We’re Looking For

\n

\n
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant ownership of production systems
\n
• Strong backend engineering experience, including API design, distributed systems, relational databases, and system architecture
\n
• Experience building scalable, reliable, production-grade applications
\n
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, containerized applications, and modern deployment environments
\n
• Strong understanding of system performance, failure modes, monitoring, and observability
\n
• A high standard for correctness, testing, auditability, and maintainable code
\n
• Strong technical judgment and the ability to communicate tradeoffs clearly
\n
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment with a high degree of ownership and autonomy

• Experience in mortgage, lending, fintech, banking, or another regulated industry
\n
• Experience working with Go in production
\n
• Experience building workflow, decisioning, automation, or AI-enabled systems
\n
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs and complex external data providers
\n
• Experience at an early-stage or high-growth technology company
\n

A computer science degree is not required. We care more about what you’ve built, how you think, and the level of ownership you’ve demonstrated.
