Upholds the Merit Brass corporate mission statement, acting with a sense of urgency and upholding the core values as published. Maintains a professional, ethical and respectful attitude while exercising teamwork.ResponsibilitiesPerform in-process inspections of cut-blanks, stamped and threaded nipples according to specifications during the manufacturing stagesPerform inspections of pipe intended for use in production, confirms that it meets or exceeds the specifications required by industrial standards; Tracking measurements with heat numbers for traceabilityPerform first piece inspections and approve manufacturing set-upsPerform final inspections of washed nipples according to documented processesUtilizes rulers, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and PMI equipment to assure material is within specificationsCommunicates timely and regularly on any required adjustments to manufacturing supervisorsPerform inspections of Merit purchased products according to the defined criteria and measurements using standard physical and mechanical gagesAccurately maintains documentation of traceability information and the results of inspections and testingServe as a resource and content expert to team members; information regarding quality trends of production orders and pipe manufacturersWorks with other quality personnel to ensure proper paperwork is completedAdvocates the spirit of teamwork and personal accountability in the performance of other duties and responsibilities as requested by the department supervisorEnsures work areas and operations conform to safety requirements and are hazard freePerforms other duties as assignedRequirementsHigh school graduate, GED, or equivalent education; strong written and verbal communication skillsPrevious experience with a background in manufacturing or inspection preferredAbility to use and read basic inspection tools such as rulers, scales, micrometers, calipers, etc.Ability to learn raw material and manufactured product identification numbersMust demonstrate great attention to detailCapable of identifying small very fine imperfections / surface flaws in materialBasic computer knowledge and math skills (adding/subtracting whole numbers/fractions, decimals, etc.)Able to read and interpret blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing informationAbility to work individually and/or with others as a team member to continuously improve our companyExcellent work habits including punctuality, attendance, and work ethicStanding / bending for entire shift; capable of lifting 50–70 lbs. occasionally from floor-level; pushing and pulling order carts that could weigh up to 150 lbs.Moving, and lifting full lengths of pipe (12 to 24 feet in length)Willingness to work overtime as neededBenefitsMerit Brass offers a competitive benefits package including:Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance401(k) Retirement PlanPaid Life InsurancePaid VacationPaid Holidays
