Embedded Software Engineer

Requirements Must have: We require a bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related discipline. We need at least 4 years of professional experience in embedded software development using C, C , and Assembly. We require experience developing bare-metal systems, including low-level software such as device drivers and board support packages. Preferred qualifications include a masters degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field. Preferred experience includes embedded real-time operating system development. Preferred experience includes working with PowerPC, ARM, or x86 processor architectures. Preferred background includes hardware/software integration and debugging. Preferred knowledge includes source control systems and configuration management practices. Preferred familiarity includes higher-level languages and scripting tools such as Java, Python, Matlab, and Simulink. Preferred experience includes safety-critical development under DO-178B/C or similarly rigorous standards. Responsibilities: We participate across the full software lifecycle, including planning, requirements definition, design, implementation, integration, and test. We develop software designs and implementations that satisfy demanding requirements for complex embedded control systems. We create software in environments such as Green Hills and ARM Development Studio for embedded targets ranging from PowerPC to multi-core ARM processors. We refine and apply existing processes to improve efficiency and reduce design and product costs. We mentor teammates and engage with customers in a leadership capacity. We may serve as a technical collaborator or technical lead, including presenting technical designs during customer interchange meetings.
