Physical Therapist- Inpatient Acute Rehab

Responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients in a variety of inpatient and/or outpatient areas as assigned. Performs other clinical, teaching and administrative duties as may be required. Administration Complies with Hospital and Department Policies and Procedures. Clinical Supervision Participates in regular meetings with supervisor and/or team leader and reports pertinent information on a timely basis. Human Relations Skills Demonstrates respect and regard for dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsive and courteous hospital environment. Qualifications Graduate of a CAPTE accredited program in Physical Therapy. Experience No experience required, but one (1) to two (2) years of experience in an academic medical center based practice preferred. Experience working with children and/or adults depending on the assigned setting. Clinical experience with a variety of diagnoses to include post-surgical, developmental, neurological, genetic, oncologic and traumatic. Licensure Must maintain a current unrestricted license or temporary permit to practice as a Physical Therapist in CT. Special Skills The individual should demonstrate knowledge in physical therapy theory, evaluations, and treatment techniques to be applied to a diverse patient population of varying ages. Observation skills, communication skills (both verbal and written), and an ability to work with patients, families and other providers in a synergistic manner are essential. The individual should also be willing and able to assume increased responsibilities as required. Demonstrates a high level of independence and leadership in assigned clinical area. Communication and interpersonal skills must be at a level to effectively work with a broadly diverse patient population and workforce. Physical Demand Requires: exposure to blood and body fluids, hazardous materials and communicable diseases; long periods of standing and walking; lifting and positioning of patients.
