If you have strong HVAC fundamentals, enjoy solving problems, and are comfortable working with laptops and software, we want to talk with you.Previous building automation experience is a plus, but you don't need to know everything on day one. Training, mentoring, and hands-on field support are provided to help you develop your controls expertise.In this role, you'll combine traditional HVAC troubleshooting with computers, software, networking, electronic controls, and building automation technology to help customers improve the comfort, reliability, and efficiency of their facilities.What You Will DoTroubleshoot commercial HVAC and building automation systems.Use laptops, BAS software, diagnostic tools, and system data to identify and resolve problems.Work with controllers, sensors, actuators, networks, and other electronic control devices.Diagnose HVAC, electrical, controls, software, and communication issues.Learn to program, configure, commission, and optimize building automation systems.Use trends and system data to find the root cause of building performance problems.Work with air-handling systems, VAVs, chilled-water systems, boilers, chillers, and other commercial HVAC equipment.Communicate directly with customers to understand their concerns and explain technical issues clearly.Recommend repairs, upgrades, and system improvements that improve building performance.Assist with system layouts, sequences of operation, control drawings, and project documentation.Train customers on the operation of their building automation systems.Work alongside experienced controls professionals and develop your technical skills.As your experience grows, help mentor and support other technicians.Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfactionHow You Will Do ItWe're looking for someone who is mechanically strong, comfortable with technology, and likes figuring out how things work.Commercial HVAC service, controls, electrical, or related technical experience.Strong understanding of HVAC equipment and basic system operation.Strong computer skills and comfort working from a laptop in the field.Ability to learn new software and navigate computer-based technical applications.Comfort troubleshooting problems involving a combination of mechanical equipment, electronics, software, and communications.Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting ability.Logical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other technicians.Willingness to learn and continually develop your technical skills.Technical/vocational education, associate degree, or equivalent hands-on experience.Valid driver's license.What We Look ForTechnology Experience That Is A PlusYou do not need to be an IT professional or programmer, but experience or interest in any of the following is valuable:Windows-based applicationsComputer networking and IP addressesSoftware installation and configurationBAS or HVAC service softwareConnecting computers to equipment for diagnosticsRouters, switches, or network troubleshootingProgramming or logical troubleshootingRemote access and computer-based diagnostic toolsWe'll Help You Learn the ControlsBuilding automation experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.If you bring strong HVAC fundamentals, computer aptitude, and the desire to learn, we'll help you develop skills in:Building Automation SystemsControls programming and configurationSystem commissioningBAS networking and communicationsControllers and field devicesAdvanced HVAC troubleshootingSystem trends and data analysisBuilding performance optimizationCustomer consultation and technical recommendationsYou'll receive hands-on experience, technical training, and mentorship from experienced controls professionals as you build your capabilities.Who Will Be Successful in This Role?You could be a great fit if you're the technician who:Enjoy troubleshooting problems other people can't easily solve.Is naturally comfortable around computers and technology.Wants to understand why something isn't working, not just replace parts.Enjoys both hands-on mechanical work and computer-based diagnostics.Like learning new technology.Can communicate professionally with customers.Wants to expand beyond traditional HVAC service into a growing technical field.Takes pride in becoming the person others call when they need help.Ready for Your Next Step?If you're a strong HVAC troubleshooter who enjoys computers and technology, you don't have to be a controls expert.Bring your HVAC experience, curiosity, and computer skills.
