People Advisory Services - Global Payroll Operate - Senior Analyst Location: Chicago The opportunity Ernst & Young LLP's National Tax and EY EDGE practices provide specific tax technical services to US and global clients. EDGE stands for Exceptional Delivery and Growth Engine, focusing on deep process and service delivery. Our Global Payroll Operate practice helps clients manage global payroll needs proactively across 150+ countries, reducing inefficiencies, mitigating risk, and driving process improvement. We combine extensive local payroll experience with global compliance methodology, delivering integrated, consistent, quality service for clients across all payroll functions. Your key responsibilities This role supports sales and service opportunities under a PPMD, Senior Manager or Manager, collaborating across regions to ensure compliance, accuracy, and process improvement. Provide strategic leadership and oversight of complex global payroll programs. Maintain proactive engagement with EY global payroll teams and senior client stakeholders. Respond to payroll and governance queries from clients and internal stakeholders. Oversee the development and maintenance of comprehensive global payroll calendars . Develop client payroll calendar detailing all delivery activities and support data collection. Lead payroll accuracy assurance through governance reviews and audit oversight. Direct the creation, standardization, and annual audit of global payroll process and procedure documentation . Provide high‑level training, enablement, and thought leadership on global payroll tools and governance models. Skills and attributes for success Strong analytical, interpersonal, and written, and verbal communication skills; problem‑solving ability and attention to detail. Excellent communication, presentation, and client service skills. To qualify for the role, you must have Bachelor's degree and relevant postgraduate qualification, preferably in accounting, business, or finance. Four or more years of relevant payroll and/or tax experience or equivalent business experience. Approved HR or business‑related certification, or actively progressing toward one (e.g., SHRM‑CP/SHRM‑SCP, PHR, SPHR, GPHR, Certified Payroll Professional, MBA). Understanding of payroll or related finance/HR activities. Excellent organizational, project management, technology, Microsoft tool, and communication skills with a proactive approach. Ability to understand and apply EY methodologies and tools to enhance service delivery. Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment. Ideally, you'll also have Second language proficiency. Basic AI knowledge. Base salary range: $81,500 to $134,600 (U.S. locations) with higher ranges for New York City, Washington State, and California. Hybrid work model: most roles work in person 60% of the time.
