Mission Support Specialist (Generalist)

Summary Organizational Location: This position is located with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Havre Sector, Malta Station, Malta, MT. This position is a Mission Support Specialist (Generalist). Salary: Starts at $50,460 per annum (GS-07, Step 1) and may increase to $80,243 per annum (GS-09, Step 10), with promotion potential to GS-09 Step 10. Duties The Mission Support Specialist provides direct advice and guidance to employees, develops new or modified program work methods, approaches, or procedures, and performs the broadest and most significant mission support duties. Duties and responsibilities include: Processing lost, stolen, destroyed, or missing personal property. Conducting inventories and assisting with records management. Preparing and processing property reports. Providing assistance with the fleet card program. Coordinating facility repairs. Requirements Must be a U.S. citizen. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service. Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years. All pre-employment processes will be conducted in English. May be required to pass a background investigation. CBP follows the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures. Must comply with all government ethics and conflict of interest rules. Participation in E-Verify is required. Position is covered under the National Border Patrol Council bargaining unit. Qualifications GS-07 – One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, such as: Paying invoices in a timely manner and resolving issues. Reviewing information and reconciling conflicting data. Assisting in gathering metrics for reports and evaluation products. Verifying accuracy and completeness of information. Education substitution: One year of full-time graduate education may substitute for experience, or a bachelor’s degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) may also substitute. GS-09 – One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, such as: Running various reports and updating trackers. Monitoring tickler reports and staffing tables. Ordering fuel cards, performing audits, extracting reports. Reconciling invoices and reporting fraud for the fleet card program. Recording requests for facilities management into the system. Preparing briefing materials for supervisors or senior management. Education substitution: A master’s degree, two full years of graduate education toward such a degree, or a J.D. or LL.B may substitute for experience.
