Child and Family Therapist (LMSW, LMFT, LCSW)
$1,500 per monthThe Children's Community Programs of Connecticut
Job Description
Job Description
Your master’s degree opened the door. This role is where you walk through it. As an FFT Clinician with Children’s Community Programs of Connecticut, you’ll build the clinical skills, supervision hours, and professional confidence that turn an LMSW into an LCSW — while doing work that reunites families and changes the trajectory of children’s lives.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
CCP is built for clinicians who want to grow into excellence — not just collect hours. Here’s what that looks like in practice.
• A model that teaches you how to think, not just what to do. Functional Family Therapy is a phased, research-backed approach to family intervention. You’ll learn to assess relational dynamics, target specific risk and protective factors, and deliver interventions that are accountable to outcomes — not just good intentions. Weekly consultation with an FFT clinical consultant, peer supervision, and structured video review ensure you’re always sharpening.
• Your LCSW pathway is built into the role. If you’re an LMSW, this position provides clinical supervision hours toward independent licensure as a core function of the job. CCP also offers a $1,500 educational award when you achieve your LCSW. You’ll earn the credential — and the competence behind it.
• A culture that takes clinical work seriously. CCP’s leadership understands that clinical excellence requires sustainable conditions. Workloads are intentional. Supervision is consistent. And your professional development — through workshops, Lunch & Learns, and advanced training — isn’t a line item that gets cut when things get busy.
• Comprehensive benefits that support the whole clinician. Medical, dental, and vision plans for you and your family. Quarterly wellness experiences. Summer Fridays. Recognition awards. And culture committees that put team members at the center of organizational decision-making.
What You’ll Do
You’ll deliver Functional Family Therapy within CCP’s Foster Care program, working directly with children, foster families, and birth families to support reunification and permanency. This is a combination of office and community-based work.
• Engage children, birth families, and foster families from the first point of contact — scheduling your initial session within one business day of assignment.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments including risk and protective factor analysis, relational assessments, and hierarchy mapping within the family system.
• Deliver model-adherent FFT interventions that target engagement, motivation, relational change, and behavior change across the phases of treatment.
• Develop and implement tailored safety plans, crisis interventions, and behavior change strategies that decrease risk and increase protective factors.
• Coordinate with DCF teams, service providers, and stakeholders — including attending family court appearances and Administrative Case Reviews.
• Maintain clear, concise, and timely clinical documentation in Care4, including session notes within two business days and treatment progress reviews at required intervals.
• Participate in weekly peer consultation, individual supervision, and video review sessions that drive your clinical growth and model certification.
• Provide supervised visitation to birth families and rotate on-call responsibilities with your team.
What You’ll Bring To The Table
Required
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
• Current licensure in your field of study (LMSW, LMFT, LPCA, or LCSW).
• At least one year of experience providing clinical services to children and/or families.
• A valid CT driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• The ability to work a flexible schedule, including rotating on-call coverage.
Preferred
• Familiarity with family systems theory, cognitive-behavioral approaches, or trauma-informed care frameworks.
• Experience working within the child welfare system or with DCF-involved families.
• Knowledge of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and their behavioral health implications.
• A genuine desire to grow toward independent licensure and long-term clinical practice.
Compensation: $60,000 – $67,000 annually
