Physical Therapy (PT) - Outpatient

The outpatient PT role provides rehabilitation services in a clinic setting to improve functional mobility, strength, and endurance for a broad patient population. The PT plans and directs therapy with support from PTAs as needed.

The core purpose is to deliver effective, evidence-based therapy that enables patients to return to daily activities and work or sports-related goals.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and establish individualized plans of care for outpatient rehabilitation.
• Deliver PT interventions including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and functional training.
• Monitor progress and modify treatment plans based on response and goals.
• Educate patients on home exercise programs and activity modification.
• Document sessions and outcomes in the EHR; communicate with referring providers.
• Coordinate with other clinicians to support comprehensive rehab goals.
• Assist with equipment recommendations and patient safety education.

Qualifications

Education:

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent; licensure as PT in the United States.

Licensure:

Current PT license to practice in the United States.

Certifications:

• CPR/BLS certification required.

Experience or Skills:

Experience in outpatient PT; strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills.

Experience

• 2-4 years of outpatient PT experience.
• Experience with diverse populations and conditions requiring rehabilitation.

Preferred

• Specialty interests (orthopedics, sports, or neuro rehabilitation) and experience with outcome measures.

Work Environment

Clinic-based with scheduled patient appointments; teamwork with PTs, PTAs, and front-office staff.

Documentation in EHR; standard daytime hours with occasional evenings depending on clinic policy.
