Senior Software Engineer, AI/ML

Responsibilities

• Develop methods for understanding user interests and apply advanced techniques for content retrieval.
• Collaborate with partners and teammates to identify user problems and personalization opportunities.
• Generate reliable and scalable training data from large-scale user data.
• Implement and experiment with machine learning algorithms and model architectures, including LLMs, deep learning, and distillation.
• Improve model quality through evaluations, demonstrations, and launches, and apply user-understanding models to retrieve content across multiple formats.
• Integrate models and components with the Discover stack and own projects from ideation through implementation, analysis, and maintenance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Five years of software development experience in Python.
• Three years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products and one year of experience with software design and architecture.
• Three years of experience with ML infrastructure, including model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, or debugging.
• Three years of experience developing and optimizing deep learning algorithms and architectures.
• Three years of experience with reinforcement learning, recommendations/ranking, LLMs, ML infrastructure, or another ML specialization.
• Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in computer science or a related technical field.
• Preferred: three years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools such as JAX and TensorFlow, plus experience with personalization, user understanding, recommender systems, LLM applications, or LLM fine-tuning.

Benefits

• US base salary of $174000-$252000, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
