Join BZI Steel's CNC Programming team as a Full-time CNC Programmer on Second Shift, where you'll create and optimize the programs that drive our CNC machines so parts come off the line accurately and efficiently. No prior programming experience is needed - we provide hands-on training for candidates with solid computer skills, the ability to read technical drawings, and a keen eye for detail. If you're reliable, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn in a collaborative team setting, this is a great opportunity to build a rewarding new skillset.

Responsibilities:
Build plate nests in nesting software, fitting the most parts on each plate with the least scrap

Create cut lists for linear material (beams, angle, channel) and nests for plate from the Tekla model and shop drawings

Generate CNC programs and check them before release - part dimensions, quantities, and piece marks against the drawings

Assign programs to the correct machine and release them to the cut shop on schedule

Catch and flag drawing or model mismatches and missing parts before they reach the floor

Track plate and remnant usage and use remnants when they fit

Keep programs, nests, and job records organized and current in Tekla PowerFab and Airtable

Accuracy matters here: a nest or program with a wrong dimension or quantity scraps plate and holds up the cut shop, so we're looking for someone who checks their own work.

Required Qualifications:
Basic to intermediate computer skills (comfortable navigating software, file management, learning new programs)

Ability to read and understand technical/mechanical drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and symbols

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude

Willingness to learn and take direction/feedback

Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team environment

Preferred (not required):
Exposure to CAD, nesting, or CAM software

Experience in steel fabrication or a machine shop

Tools: Workstation PC; regular time on the shop floor at the machines
Software: SigmaNest / Lantek (nesting), Tekla PowerFab (EPM), Airtable
Work Environment: Office setting with regular time on the shop floor; steel-toed boots and safety glasses required on the floor
Job Type: Full-time, Hourly
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour (Depending on experience)
Shift: Second Shift | Monday - Thursday, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
