Exciting Opportunity for an ED RN - Night Shift (7p-7a)

Job Description:


- Join a dynamic and caring team as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse.
- Must hold a valid RN license in Maine or have a compact license.
- Current and unexpired certifications are required.
- Immunizations needed:
- Varicella (2 doses or titer)
- HepB (3 doses or titer or declination)
- MMR (2 doses or titer)
- Tdap
- PPD 2 step or titer within the past 12 months
- Flu shot is mandatory during flu season.
- Submit an Agency W-9 and Certificate of Insurance for Workers' Compensation and Liability ($1M/$3M).
- Complete onboarding process, reporting to Human Resources on day 1.

CREDENTIALS:


- Current Maine nursing license required; BSN preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient knowledge in nursing assessments and skills for all age groups.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.

ENVIRONMENT:


- Fast-paced and engaging.
- Duties include standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and toxic cleaning chemicals is possible.

Job Functions:


- Conduct initial age-appropriate nursing assessments.
- Perform ongoing age-appropriate reassessments.
- Complete discharge assessments to determine patient needs.
- Identify delivery care priorities.
- Develop and implement care plans based on patient needs and physician orders.
- Execute nursing actions to achieve patient goals.
- Communicate effectively with health care team members about patient care activities.
- Update the health care team regarding changes in patient status and care plans.
- Document nursing activities as per established standards and policies.
- Provide specialty/supplemental nursing notes when necessary.
- Assist with patient charges.
- Deliver care aligned with hospital policies and the Nursing Practice Act.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic physical environment.
- Ensure availability and functionality of supplies and equipment.
- Report safety and legality concerns to the nursing manager promptly.
- Demonstrate knowledge of drug administration and its effects.
- Administer medications according to the five rights through med verification.
- Evaluate patient responses to medications.
- Assess patient/family education needs and provide necessary teaching.
- Complete and ensure understanding of the discharge plan.
- Conduct follow-up calls to patients.
- Assess nursing care throughout the shift.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and bedside rounds.
- Exhibit professional behavior to promote hospital and employee reputation.
- Contribute to Hospital-wide Quality Improvement Program initiatives and projects.
- Participate in emergency/disaster preparedness planning and drills; respond appropriately in real-life disaster situations.

Shift Information:


- Nights: 7p-7a
- Holiday coverage required.

Minimum Years of Experience:


- 1 year.

Certifications / Requirements:


- BLS/BCLS certification required.
