WEWS News 5, the E.W. Scripps ABC station in Cleveland, Ohio, is looking for a Multimedia Journalist to join our award-winning newsroom. This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking a journalist who can separate us from the competition through exceptional source-building, enterprise reporting, and compelling storytelling. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop original story ideas.
Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research.
Organize material, determine story emphasis, and write content according to editorial standards and AP style.
Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
Edit, or assist in editing, video for television, digital, social, and streaming platforms.
Appear on television programs while conducting interviews or providing narration.
Deliver live reports from the scene of breaking news and community events.
Work collaboratively with photographers and other newsroom staff when assigned.
Assist producers in preparing newscasts and coverage plans.
Partner with digital teams to create compelling multimedia content for all platforms.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.
Generally, 3+ years of professional reporting experience preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Strong journalism skills, including enterprise reporting, source development, and storytelling.
Proven ability to develop exclusive stories through relationship-building, public records research, and enterprise reporting that delivers meaningful impact for local communities.
Computer literacy, including experience with newsroom content management systems.
Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.
Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment.
Ability to edit video using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, or similar editing systems.
Strong broadcast writing and AP style skills.
Experience publishing content across digital, social, and streaming platforms.
Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong news judgment and a commitment to accurate, ethical journalism.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with company-required limits.

COMPENSATION RANGE:
Annual Salary: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in Ohio.WHAT WE OFFER (ADDITIONAL BENEFITS):
