Senior Digital Infrastructure Engineer, NGNRI

The Senior Digital Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, scalability, and continuous improvement of NGNRI’s digital infrastructure. This role serves as a key technical resource supporting cloud services, enterprise systems, research computing needs, laboratory technology integration, and end-user support. Working closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and the Digital Team, the incumbent develops and maintains the digital foundation required to support scientific research and operational excellence.About the role Administer and maintain cloud infrastructure, identity management systems, and core digital services to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing operationsPartner with internal and external IT teams to support networking, hardware, software, and technology services across the organizationProvide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate escalation with vendors or service providers when necessaryCollaborate with research and laboratory teams to integrate scientific instruments, software applications, databases, and digital technologies into the broader infrastructure environmentManage user access, onboarding and offboarding processes, backup and disaster recovery solutions, and business continuity practicesEnsure compliance with security, data protection, regulatory, and institutional requirements while maintaining appropriate governance and risk controlsSupport research computing initiatives, including coordination with high-performance computing resources and data analysis platformsManage technology vendors, contribute to procurement activities, maintain technical documentation, and support the ongoing development of the organization’s digital technology roadmapAbout you Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience5 years of experience managing IT infrastructure in a small-to-medium sized organizationExperience administering cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud PlatformExperience supporting Windows, Linux, and macOS environmentsStrong scripting and automation skills using tools such as Python, PowerShell, or BashExperience managing identity and access systems and implementing security controlsAbility to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting research, healthcare, life sciences, or laboratory environmentsExperience with high-performance computing (HPC) environmentsExperience with containerization and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Docker, Terraform, or AnsibleFamiliarity with scientific software applications, databases, or laboratory instrument integrationsKnowledge of security frameworks and regulatory requirements such as NIST, CIS, HIPAA, or research data governance standardsWhat you’ll get Our team members fuel our strategy, innovation and growth, so we ensure the health and well-being of not just you, but your family, too!
